Setup vs Portable

Setup installs WiseRemote normally on your computer — best if you want it to always start with Windows and run permanently in the background.

Portable needs no installation at all — just run the exe. Good for trying it out, or running it from a USB drive. You can still install it later from within the app's own settings if you change your mind.

Important settings

Allowed connections

Controls who can connect using your pairing code.

Everyone

Anyone with the pairing code can connect. You choose whether they get full Control or only View-only access by default.

Specific users

Only usernames you've explicitly added are allowed in. Each person can be given their own role — Control or View-only — individually.

Startup & background

Controls how WiseRemote behaves when your computer starts and while it's idle.

Start with Windows

Launches WiseRemote automatically at login, hidden in the tray. If you're running the portable version, this will offer to install it first, since Windows can't auto-start a portable exe reliably.

Start listening automatically

Skips the pairing screen on launch and starts listening for a connection right away, using either a fixed code you choose or a freshly randomized one every time the app starts.
